Specialty medications

A variety of specialty medications are available for chronic health conditions. They help by blocking specific proteins in your immune system that cause inflammation. This reduces joint swelling, pain and prevents joint damage, improving your quality of life. They are filled by a specialty pharmacy.

While specialty medications can be highly effective, they may cause side effects such as injection site reactions, headaches, nausea, or increased risk of infection. Contact your doctor right away if you experience fever, chills, a persistent cough, or any unusual symptoms.

These medications may be considered for your chronic condition care plan in your visits with your AndHealth care team.
